Work Package 1: Antigen selection and vaccine design
This WP will be led by ENEA-Italy that has acquired a specific expertise in the production of recombinant antigens in plants. To maximize the production of the IBDV and NDV target antigens, the encoding DNA sequences will be analysed and optimized to increase the efficiency of the translation in the plant hosts. The sequences encoding the antigens will be produced in their native form (only IBDV antigens) or fused to sequences encoding moieties able to fortify their immunological properties (both IBDV and NDV antigens). Of the two IBDV antigens produced in the native form, one will be used to set up the diagnostic assay.
